The Wendt & Mayor's Art Awards



Nominations are now open for the 2020 and 2021 Mayor’s Arts Awards and the prestigious Richard Wendt Award of Excellence.

The awards recognize artists, arts organizations and community members committed to enriching the Everett community through the arts.

All nominations will be reviewed and selected by Mayor Cassie Franklin and the Cultural Arts Commission.

Note: the 2020 awards were postponed due to the pandemic. Therefore we are accepting nominations for the 2020 and 2021 awards. There will be a special double ceremony honoring 2020 and 2021 recipients.

You can nominate as many people or organizations as you like by submitting multiple nomination forms.

Mayor Cassie Franklin and the Cultural Arts Commission will honor the award recipients during a public celebration on Thursday, Feb. 3, at the Everett Performing Arts Center, located at 2710 Wetmore Ave., Everett, WA 98201.

Doors open at 6 p.m., program begins at 7 p.m., and all are welcome.

Due to the ongoing nature of the pandemic, the date and location for 2021 ceremony may change. Stay tuned here for the latest updates.

About the awards

Richard Wendt Award of Excellence The Richard Wendt Award of Excellence is given annually to a person or organization who has demonstrated outstanding support of the arts throughout their lifetime. The award is named for Dr. Richard Wendt, who passed away in 2007. Wendt was a long-time promoter of the arts in Everett and helped found the City’s Cultural Arts Commission and the 1% for the Arts program.

Mayors Arts Awards

The Mayor's Arts Awards recognize the many ways a vibrant arts community is created and sustained. Each year, the Cultural Arts Commission gives out several Mayor's Arts Awards to people or organizations that have made Everett a better place through their creative efforts, vision or patronage.


Learn more The Everett Cultural Arts Commission is composed of volunteer commissioners who are appointed by the Mayor. The mission of the commission is to initiate, sponsor, organize and promote cultural and artistic programs and services for the enrichment and enjoyment of the Everett community.
